Tim Jefferson - Curriculum Vitae

• After graduating with a BSc in Economics and Law I worked in retail, hospitality and the courier trade before setting up my own sameday logistics company specialising in subcontract work, ultimately expanding as part of a UK overnight parcel network and developing a third party warehouse operation.
• Through my knowledge and use of the technological applications available to the transport industry, I then moved into consultancy work, advising clients not only on sales, marketing and operational issues, but also IT solutions. I later moved into more specialised analysis of technology, communications, business and operational systems, working within the wireless wide area systems, supply chain and home delivery markets. Projects involved evaluating existing software, hardware and communications systems and the sourcing, selection, purchasing and implementation of new operational software and hardware including mobile wireless communications, dealing with such household names as Marks and Spencer, TNT and Harrods.
• I have also been employed as Commercial Development Manager for an expanding software and hardware house working in the specialised express transport sector. In this role I gained experience of FoxBASE, FoxPro and Delphi based software products and PC networks on Novell, NT and UNIX operating systems and GSM Data and SMS, Mobitex and Trunked PMR, and was responsible for sales, marketing, purchasing, exhibition organisation, consultancy, business analysis, project planning and implementation.
• In a later position as Sales and Implementation Director for a specialist solutions supplier in the supply chain vertical market including intelligent despatching, GPS, WMS and ERP solutions I took responsibility for new business sales of software, hardware and services, both direct and also indirect through channel partners. I also created business requirement specifications addressing wireless, internet, e-commerce, business process re-engineering, software and hardware issues and planned and project managed software, hardware and mobile data solution implementations in the UK and Europe. My remit included the co-ordination of international level software solution design, commissioning and implementation.
• For the last five years I have been practising as an independent consultant with my own company, The Human Chain, providing services within the mobile telecoms, blue chip corporate and mobile device vertical markets.
